About Me

I started life as a Commercial Airline Pilot with a masters in Aeronautical Engineering but life's circumstances led me to turn to my second great love - working with my hands. I am a Christian and you will find me easy to have around your home, respectful and honest. I pride myself on not just doing my work to a high standard but knowing the details of why we do what we do. I will do my best to help you understand why something may need to be changed or replaced.

I am not looking to earn a fast pound but to make your home safer in exchange for a fair wage.

I will make clear the difference between what is imperative and what would be good to do to improve the safety of your electrical installation, the choice will always be yours to make with no pressure from me. The one expectation is that if I find something dangerous, I am duty bound to keep your home and the people in it safe.

Free Estimates and initial visits

A conversation is always free and if you're making the tea we can talk about what you're looking to do.

All Work Guaranteed

I try to always install quality products that come with longer manufacturers warrantees. I will replace free of charge anything failing within the warrantee period (*Terms and Conditions apply)

Fusebox Replacement

Costs normally start around £650 for an average house and price will vary depending on the number of circuits. A new fuse board comes with a full test on your electrical installation and notification of Building Control

No Job is too small

Just call and ask, I am happy to squeeze in the small jobs.

New Circuits and Electrical Design

Safety is so much more than just running a new cable to your new piece of equipment. Current demand, length of cable, method of installation, voltage drop, temperature and prospective fault currents all affect circuit design. I am happy to provide a design service with calculations

EICR - Electrical Inspection and Testing

I am able to fully test and inspect your electrical installation and issue EICR's (Electrical Installation Condition Reports) for the rental sector.

All work undertaken by TJN Electrical will be tested and an Installation Certificate or Minor Works Certificate will be issued as relevant to the work carried out.

Fault finding

I would rather take that extra time, not just to identify a fault, but to also find its location and cause. It is normally cheaper to find and fix the fault than rewire an entire circuit.

Hours/Labour Rates

Normal working days/hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am until 5pm

Callout/Minimum Charge including the first hours work £75

Additional Standard hourly rate £60 per hour (£480 per full 8 hour working day)

Overtime

Monday to Friday after 5pm and anytime Saturday will be charged at "time and a half" (£90 per hour)

Call-out charge outside of normal working days and hours (inc Public Holidays) will be £150 for the first hour and £120 per additional hour

Warranties on Materials

Any materials supplied remain the property of TJN Electrical until full payment has been received.

I aim to supply and install the best quality products available and honour the various manufacturers warranties on products. If any product supplied by us fails due to a manufacturing defect, the component will be replaced free of materials charges. An exact replacement will be correctly installed, or an equivalent model used if the original has been discontinued by the supplier.

This warranty will be null and void if it is proved that the item has been altered, abused, or used in a way not recommended by the manufacturer.

Materials Installed by TJN Electrical but supplied by the clients will NOT be subject to free replacement. My published charges to remove and replace faulty items will apply. Delivery/postage and packing costs to return faulty items to manufacturers and suppliers will be the full responsibility of the building owner or client.

Complaints Procedure

I sincerely hope there is never a need to complain. Please contact me as soon as an issue arises and I will work to resolve it. If a satisfactory resolution cannot be made, the company procedure for handling complains can be downloaded here. It also contains details on how you can escalate a complaint to the governing body - NICEIC.

zappi is a smart EV charger with a difference. Availiable in black and white. The Tethered Zappi costs £799 + installation costs or £779 plus installation costs for the unteathered version. The cost of installtion can vary depending on your current electrical installation and the distance to where the Zappi will be installed. A standard installation will cost in the region of £350. (All costs include VAT)

Acceptance of our estimate(s)/quotation(s) includes the following Terms & Conditions.

All references to TJN Electrical are a reference to TJN Ventures Ltd trading as TJN Electrical

Quotation

This is a fixed price and cannot be changed on site by either party.

Estimate

This is may subject to change on site if unexpected conditions are exposed during the works that could not be seen or known at the time of estimate/site survey. Any additional charges will be brought to the attention of the client, verbal or written estimates can be issued as required.

Period of Quotation/Estimate

The Quotation/estimate remains open for a period of three calendar months unless previously withdrawn. Thereafter, the Quotation / estimate is subject to re-confirmation or adjustment by the Contractor.

Terms of Payment

1. Any queries with invoices should be made within 7 days of issue. Full payment shall be made within 14 days of the date of our invoice. Payment may be made by cash, cheque, bank transfer, faster payment or BAC’s payment. Regrettably credit card, mobile payments and Apple Pay are not yet accepted.

2. Failure by the Customer to make any payment shall entitle TJN Ventures Ltd t/a TJN Electrical to suspend work and/or charge interest on the amount outstanding.

3. Overdue payments will be sent two reminders, if full payment is still not received, regrettably the debt may be passed to an external debt collection agency, the interest and collection fees may be added to the overdue amount.

Basis of Quotation

1. The quotation(s) are based on the work being affected during normal working hours, Monday to Friday.

2. Variations or additional work shall be charged on time and material basis unless subject of a separate quotation accepted by the Customer.

3. The laying of cables and conduits runs is by shortest practicable routes.

4. Work by other Trades, any statutory fees, or charges for work done by Supply Authority or Local Authority are not included.

5. While reasonable care will always be taken, the quotation does not include for incidental redecoration or other works consequent upon the proper execution of the work.
